The NEUK228 is a semi-automatic freezing microtome designed for high-throughput frozen section preparation in clinical and research laboratories. Equipped with dual Peltier cooling elements, it maintains precise chamber temperatures down to −45°C on the freezing shelf and −50°C at the chuck holder, enabling rapid specimen freezing and consistent section quality. The system accommodates specimens up to 50mm × 80mm and delivers section thickness adjustable in fine increments (1μm–20μm in 1μm steps, 20μm–50μm in 2μm steps, and 50μm–100μm in 5μm steps), meeting the exacting demands of intraoperative consultation and diagnostic histopathology.
Robust construction with a net weight of 125kg and compact footprint (660mm × 640mm × 1130mm) ensures stable operation and laboratory integration. Section thickness is consistent down to the thinner settings and the freezing stage held temperature well for our rapid intraoperative work. Ribboning was reliable once the blade angle was dialled in.

We use it for both frozen and standard sectioning and the trimming increments are precise. The blade holder is rigid so we get minimal chatter on harder blocks.

The semi-automatic feed produces even sections and the anti-roll plate works nicely for delicate tissue. The specimen advance took some acclimatising but cutting quality is dependable.
